The Design Council has developed the following teaching resources for teachers and designers to use as part of their activities.

Brainstorming cards

Based on the approach used by renowned design consultancy IDEO, this resource details a step-by-step approach to holding collaborative brainstorming sessions with students.

Through the keyhole - user research

This resource enables students to carry out user research without leaving the classroom. Containing three sets of photos, depicting three households in which the inhabitants cannot be seen, the resource encourages students to use both their imagination and observation skills to arrive at a profile of a user which they can then use as a stimulus for any design activity.

Both resources have been designed to print as a PDF and require Adobe Reader. This can be downloaded for free from the Adobe Reader website.
